Closes Wed 4 NovAbout the Role
An in-house Information Security team at a software product company is looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst to take ownership of operational security work. You’ll investigate incidents, assess vulnerabilities and coordinate proportionate responses across a range of technical environments.
The environment is evolving, and not everything is documented. You’ll work with technical contributors and subject matter experts to connect evidence, make uncertainties clear and identify practical next steps. Alongside hands-on monitoring and response, you’ll improve detection, processes and automation, and share knowledge with less experienced analysts.
What You'll Be Doing
- Independently monitor, investigate and respond to moderately complex security incidents.
- Correlate evidence from identities, endpoints, networks, cloud services, applications and threat intelligence to establish scope, cause and impact.
- Assess vulnerabilities and exposures, prioritise remediation and communicate findings to service owners.
- Improve security monitoring and detection through rules, dashboards, queries, integrations and threat-informed use cases.
- Resolve security platform issues, coordinate service providers and recommend improvements to reliability and capability.
- Develop procedures, playbooks, scripts and automated workflows to make security operations more effective.
- Produce investigation findings, incident reports and control evidence for technical and management audiences.
- Coordinate technical contributors, share incident learnings and coach less experienced analysts.
What You'll Need (Essential)
- Relevant tertiary qualification, industry security certification or equivalent demonstrated professional capability.
- Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity operations and relevant technology dependencies.
- Experience independently investigating security issues and incidents, using evidence from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical judgement, including the ability to identify and communicate uncertainty and evidence gaps.
- Ability to coordinate technical contributors, influence without formal authority and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Broad experience across security monitoring, investigation, incident response, vulnerability management and security platform improvement.
- Advanced or role-aligned certifications in security operations, incident response, cloud, detection engineering or vulnerability management.
